Elementary School Programs
Unfortunately kids today are beginning to experiment with things at a much earlier age. Research shows that children are abusing alcohol and other substances at ages as young as eight or nine years old. To better prepare our youth for these challenges, Prevention Links offers a wide array of life skill and asset building programs. These programs cover many topics such as where to go for help and why it is not good to keep how you are feeling a secret. These programs utilize stories told through puppets to convey these important messages. Each multi-session program we offer covers different topics applicable to that grade level. For more information about any of the programs mentioned below please email Marigrace Flynn at educators@preventionlinks.org.

Footprints For Life
Footprints for Life is an original, research-based primary prevention program that builds assets and teaches important life skills to students in grades two and three. Through the use of puppets and stories that feature “real life” situations experienced by a children’s soccer team, Footprints for Life teaches students about planning and decision-making practices, interpersonal skills, peer pressure, and peaceful conflict resolution. The goal of Footprints for Life is to help young children build a strong foundation of life skills rooted in key social competencies. Foot Prints for Life Image
Forest Friends
Forest Friends is an asset-building program designed to develop and reinforce resiliency skills in children ages five through nine. In this engaging program, children learn about dealing with feelings and how to communicate effectively, how to make good and healthy decisions, the importance of truth and trust to develop healthy relationships, and effective coping skills to deal with difficult life situations. Pre-Historic Pals

Pre-Historic Pals is a prevention program designed to provide young children with the necessary skills to express and deal successfully with feeling of anger and rage. Eight prehistoric puppets offer the audience some positive alternatives to violence that are practical and easy to understand. As the children identify with the characters, they see their friends finding peaceful solutions to everyday problems. They witness a world where reasoning works and kindness prevails. After each session, the audience is encouraged to participate in a related activity designed to reinforce the value presented.

BABES (Beginning Addiction Basic Education Studies)

BABES is a primary program designed to help young children develop early coping and decision-making skills. It provides them with non-judgmental information about the use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs. BABES is not designed to replace current teaching strategies, but rather to augment the established need for self-concept building among children and to provide a basis for the prevention of substance abuse.
