Highlights
·
The budget was over $1.27 million through new grants, program fees and
donations.
· Committees have continued to meet regularly to assist the Board
in its work including Finance and Development.
· Continued to identify new potential Board members to strengthen
Prevention Links.
· Continued the "Buy a Link" Campaign to encourage
residents to assist us in creating a drug-free community.
· The Board and staff finalized the newly-revised mission statement,
vision statement and strategic plan.
· Held the 1st Annual Scrapbook Fundraiser at Rahway Middle School
and had over 45 people in attendance.
· Prevention Links continues to be a member in good standing
with the New Jersey Prevention Network and the United Way (Greater Union
County, Westfield & Summit, New Providence & Berkeley Heights)

Highlights
·
Recruited and hired two new employees for a total staff of 11 full time
employees and 9 part time employees.
· Continued to develop the resource center to include over 350
titles of pamphlets, research materials and an extensive video and curriculum
library. Distributed over 135,000 pieces of educational materials.
· Continued our Resource Center outreach in thirteen annex sites
with three new sites this year plus seven additional racks in Plainfield.
· Provided Information and Referral Services to over 5,000 individuals.
· Maintained funding from Union County Freeholders, Union County
Division of Planning, OJJDP/CSAP, NJPN, the NJ Department of Health
& Senior Services and the NJ Department of Human Services.
· Successfully implementing the STAR Project in the City of Plainfield
providing services to children of substance abusers through KIV, All
Stars and Strengthening Families.
· Created a Childhood Drinking Coalition which will provide prevention
programs for youth and their parents as well as making environmental
changes such as local ordinances..
· Continued the Union County REBEL Youth Tobacco Prevention Program
through 10 High School and 5 Middle School Chapters.
· Maintained and improved our many prevention programs for schools,
youth, parents, professionals, businesses, criminal justice system,
alliances, clergy and other community members.
· Continued providing school based programs such as Prehistoric
Pals, Forest Friends, BABES, Smart Choices, and drug education programs.
· Completed our seventh year of the Union County Coalition for
the Prevention of Substance Abuse Grant Project.
· Collaborated with the NJ Elks Association for the 12th Annual
Peer Leadership Conference with over 600 youth in attendance.
· Collaborated with the County of Union, US DEA, NJ National
Guard and others to plan the 8th Annual Red Ribbon Celebration with
over 2,000 in attendance. We also held the 1st Annual Union County Red
Ribbon Parade that proceeded down the Kenilworth Boulevard into Nomahegan
Park.
· Collaborated with the NJ National Guard & the US Drug Enforcement
Administration to provide the Red Ribbon Fly-In Program to three Union
County Middle Schools in 2006.
