All Stars
The All-Stars program is a life-skills based curriculum that is implemented to students in the middle schools (ages 11-14). The curriculum outlines a 14 lesson program that seeks to target and reduce risky behaviors while increasing positive social skills and beliefs. Students work in small groups during the regular school day. Parental involvement in the program is encouraged through the use of material to be sent home. Contact information is provided to attendees and their families to help establish and maintain a network of support. Additional parent groups may also be offered. The "All-Stars" program is a science-based curriculum that was developed and is maintained by Tanglewood Research.
All Stars addresses five topics important to preventing high-risk behaviors:
- Developing positive ideals that don't fit with high-risk behavior
- Creating a belief in conventional norms
- Building strong personal commitments
- Bonding with school, pro-social institutions, and family
- Increasing positive parental attentiveness
